Wilburt Talashoma Sr. Huuhuwa – Joseph Day Collection
$495.00
Wilburt Talashoma Sr. was an under-appreciated carver. His figures have exceptional expressiveness and personality. He was the brother in William Ingvaya Quotskuyva (Janice Day’s father) and the father of Lowell Talashoma Sr. This Huuhuwa, often referrred to as “Cross-Legged” has a comic edge. Note the protruding nose and very crossed legs. The katsina is 11 1/2″ tall including the feathers. It is a wall-hanger. It is not signed but I bought it directly from Joseph Day (Tsakurshovi) who acquired it from Wilburt. Wilburt was a veteran of World War II who served in France and Germany.
