Walter Howato Healing Scene

$1,500.00

  • Description

One of the strangest items I’ve ever owned. As shown in photo 5, it is signed “Walter Howato, Second Mesa.” Appears to be some sort of healing ceremony involving a man in an Apache style hat, a boy patient whose body is painted half black and half red. A commercial Navajo sand painting serves as a platform. Next to the adult healer is a Hopi style bowl with what looks like cornmeal within and brightly colored ears of corn. It is large motif at 15” high x 19” long x 12” long.
