Unique Item – K. Toney’s Hahayi’wuuti Cradle Doll – SOLD
$3,000.00
This is a unique item. A Hopi woman named Koomayumka Toney, has provided a written statement that this Hahayi’wuuti putsqatihu or Grandmother cradle katsina was hers when she was a baby. The handwritten statement reads, “This Hahaii wuht’katsin tihu was my cradle doll when I was a baby in 1899.” The frame is 17″ by 14″. The polaroid photo of Ms. Toney is 4″ by 3 1/2″. It too is signed by Ms. Toney. The well-worn Hahayi’wuuti is 5 1/2″ tall by 2 1/4″ wide. The statement and polaroid photo are double-matted and covered with glass. The cradle doll has a leather thong around its neck which hangs from a metal hook attached to the top of the frame. Let me say again, this is a unique item! From a collection in Scottsdale, AZ.
