Travis Tubinaghtewa – Dramatic Navan Cradle Katsina – SOLD

Travis T is known for his vibrant colored paintings of katsinam. He also makes katsina carvings. This is a dramatic example of a Navankatsina or Velvet Shirt. Carvings of Navans generally have rather small flower blossoms on the forehead. Travis has taken those flowers to a whole new level here. He has added three pink silk or satin flower blossoms along with elaborate feathers. Note also the three-dimensional pendant on the chest consisting of inlaid orange and silver-flecked stones. The katsina is 7″ tall to the top of the head with the feathers adding 3″. The katsina is not signed but I bought directly from Travis.
