Shawn Deel – Wakas or Cow with Exceptional Detail

Shawn Deel is known for the exceptional detail he adds to hi katsinam done in a Traditional Style. This Wakas or Cow is small but powerful. Shawn told me he “used shaved-down deer antlers for the horns.” Note the fringed leather on the feet and bandeliers which also have attached miniature shells. Shawn tole me, “the bowguard has sleeping beauty turquoise added to the cuff. The right wrist has a bracelet with Kingman turquoise, orange spiny and white shell. The belt has half-domed silver conchos cut from 26-gauge silver.” The Wakas is 6 3/4″ tall with the feather adding an inch. Signed on the right foot, “SDeel.” A miniature masterpiece.
