Shawn Deel – Miniature Wuyaktaywa or Broadface

Master Carver Shawn Deel recently began making miniatures. Here’s a fine little Wuyaktawa or Broadface katsina. The carving is 3 1/2″ including the feathers. He has a cloth black beard, a leather tonque. It is signed with his initials on the bottom of the kilt. Shawn is always experimenting, trying something different. He is featured in an article by Russ Hoover and myself in the October/ November 2024 issue of Native American Art magazine.
