San Juan Set from 1966
$1,250.00
Here is something I’ve not seen before: a four doll set from San Juan Pueblo in New Mexico. The set was made by a man named Joe Trujillo in 1966. The dolls are good sized. From left to right in the photo the heights are: 14” to the top on the antlers, 12” to the top of her head, 15” to the top of the crown of feathers, and 12” to the top of the head.
The deer dancer’s antler is missing a portion towards the rear. There are some cracks to the paint on the dolls, but overall they are in fine shape and display beautifully.
The set comes with the photo shown. Joe Trujillo is on the right. He is carving one of the dolls in this set. The Anglo friend is holding the doll from the set that has the large crown of feathers.
