Otto Pentewa Tsuku Pair – Published
$5,500.00
Excellent pair of Sikyatsukus or Yellow Clowns by master carver, Otto Pentewa (1880s – 1961). The squatting one on the left is 10 1/2” tall including the professional metal base. The figure on the right is 9 1/2” with the base. Otto’s carvings were often quirky and hilarious. This pair is published on p. 241 in the Otto Pentewa section of Greg Schaaf’s book “Hopi Katsina, 1600 Artist Biographies.”
In my opinion, Otto was one of the most important carvers in Hopi history. For more info, see the chapter in my book, “The Great Tradition of Hopi Carvers, 1880-Present.” It is available through Amazon.
