Max Curley Koyemos Honan Katsina

This is an interesting hybrid katsina, a “Koyemos Honan” in putsqatihu or cradle katsina form. The protruding eyes and mouth and long spike on the head are from a Kooyemsi, while the stripe on the face and prominent upright feathers on either side of the head are those of a Honan or Badger katsina. This type of hybrid sometimes appears at Katsina ceremonies. The maker is skilled carver, Max Curley. The carving is good sized at 13″ including the tall feathers. This is something truly unusual.
