Manuel Denet Chavarria – Paakwa or Frog

My understanding is that Paakwa or Frog katsinam have appeared on Hopiland only recently (within the last several decades). They certainly are a favorite of mine. Manuel Denet Chavarria created this in his distressed style. It is a humorous example and is 10″ tall and 3″ wide. Manny is featured in our article on distressed katsinam in the August/September issue of Native American Art magazine. It is a wall hanger.
