Darlene Nampeyo – Circular Pottery Tile with Birds

Darlene Nampeyo was born in 1956 and is the great-great-granddaughter of Nampeyo. Her grandmother is Rachel Nampeyo and she is the daughter of Ruth James Nampeyo (See Schaaf, “Hopi Tewa Pottery,” 1998). This tile has a beautiful golden tone. The painting depicts 3 birds, vegetation and a flower blossom at the center. The tile is 4 7/8″ in diameter and 1/4″ thick. It is in perfect condition with no problems. On the back she has incised into the clay: “Darlene Nampeyo, ’98,” with a corn clan symbol.
