Cordell Naseyoma Red-Stripe or Pi’yatam Hoya

Here is a seldom-seen Red-Stripe figure by Hopi carver, Cordell Naseyoma. Cordell told me the name of this katsina is Pi’yatam Hoya. Cordell has been a well-regarded katsina artist for decades.  This Red-Striped figure is in the putsqatihu or cradle katsina form. The carving is 8″ tall not including the feather and 2 5/8″ wide. It is not signed but I got it directly from Cordell. As with all his carvings, the katsina is painted with natural mineral and vegetal pigments.
