Claudie Fredericks Jumping Jack Koyaala
$765.00
The creativity of Hopi katsina carvers is endless. The maker of this Sikya Koyaala or Yellow Clown, Eugene Claudie Fredericks, calls this form “jumping jacks.” He makes them exclusively for the art market. It is quite large at 20” tall including the corn husk tassels. All four limbs move and jump about when the strings are pulled. Deer hoofs are attached to the end of the strings. Claudie told me Charles Fredericks was his great grandfather and Tawaquaptewa his great uncle…They are featured in my book on “The Great Tradition of Hopi Katsina Carvers.”
