In my book, “Hopi Katsina Anomalies,” Cimmaron Grover is featured  in the chapter on “Unusual Wood.” This Koyaala is one such example made with corral wood. Cimmaron sometimes uses this material because he has run out of cottonwood root and he likes its aged texture. He told me he got this corral wood from an old sheepherder in Dinnebito, AZ. The katsina is 15″ long. It has articulated horns, arms and legs. I find Cimmaron to be one of the most unusually creative katsina artists.
