Apache Beaded Bag – Fort Sill Era – 1900-1920
$395.00
The Apache beaded bags that came out of Fort Sill Oklahoma during the 1900-1920 era had a distinctive aesthetic. One side often has a terraced design that is said to represent mountains and the other side varied as to design. The Fort Sill era bags also almost always had long beaded fringe. This Apache bag has the terraced motif on one side along with circles generally said to represent the sun or moon. The other side has an interesting six-armed design. The bag is 6″ by 5″ with the fringe adding 3 1/2″. All beads are present except for four missing beads on the top of the fringe on the bag. Hard to find except with close examination.
