Cimmaron Grover Aykatsina or Rattle

There are a number of different types of Aykatsinam or Rattle figures. Their heads have the same designs as Hopi rattles used at ceremonies. This one is by innovative carver, Cimmaron Grover. It is done in his minimalist style with a flat back, upraised arms and tiny feet. I bought this from Cimmaron when I was in AZ in early December 2021. The katsina is 10″ tall including the feather. It is painted with traditional gritty mineral and vegetal pigments.
