Five Hahay’iwuuti Katsinam on a Common Base – SOLD
$695.00
Why have one Hahay’iwuuti katsina when you can have five (on a single base)? Hahayi’wuuti, commonly referred to as the Grandmother katsina, is said to represent the ideal characteristics of womanhood. This group of putsqatihu or cradle katsiam was made by the same hand (name previously known) and is from the 1950s. They range in height from 4 1/4” to 5 1/2.” The base is hand-hewn wood. The katsinam are inserted into carved impressions that precisely match their bases. This is the only time I’ve seen this configuration.
