Large Hopi Overlay Bird Pin – 3″ Diameter – Atoko

Fine Hopi overlay pin depicting some type of long-legged and long-billed water bird. The pin has a geometric design encircling the bird. The pin has a diameter of 3″. The clasp is in fine working order. This pin will look dramatic on a garment or hat. Unsigned. 

When I posted this on instragram a Hopi individual replied, “Atuku.” I looked that up in the Hopi Dictionary and found: “Atoko is a crane or any other long-legged wading bird that migrates south for the winter through Hopi areas.”
