1940s Hopi Male Sio Sa’lako

Stately 1940s Hopi Male Sio Sa’lako katsina. This is the Hopi interpretation of the Zuni Sa’lako. The katsina’s blue boots identify it as the male version. The katsina is 11″ tall and 5 1/2″ wide at the horns. There is some wear here and there to the paint, but it is not disfiguring. A cornhusk disc on the back of the head used to hold feathers – long gone over the course of its 80 years of existence. A distinguished figure.
