1950s -19 Inch Hemiskatsina
$2,500.00
In the 1950s there was a brief fad of what Barton Wright called “giantism” in katsina making. This 19 1/2″ tall Hemiskatsina is one such example. It is 7 1/2″ wide. The katsina is beautifully made with full accurate proportions. It has a beautiful tableta front and back. In photo 2 I’ve shown this example with a 9″ Hemis for scale. If you want a dramatic example that can serve as a centerpiece in a collection, this may be for you. There are stable cracks at both shoulders that are visible but pose no risk. There also cracks on the bottom of the sash and right foot that are not a detraction. From a collection in California.
