Vidal Aguilar Monumental Olla – SOLD
$1,250.00
As noted by Gregory Schaaf in his book, Southern Pueblo Pottery, Vidal Aguilar makes some of the largest ollas at Santo Domingo Pueblo. The Aguilar family have been known for their large ollas and storage jars for generations. Vidal’s pots are hand coiled, painted with mineral and vegetal pigments, and fired in a pit the old fashioned way.
This olla is 16” tall by 13 ½” wide. As Schaaf states, Vidal Aguilar “deserves much credit for his monumental work.” Priced at $1250, this olla is a bargain. It is signed on the bottom, incised into the base: “Vidal Aguilar, SDP.”
