Very Fine, 16 3/4″ Western Apache Basket

Classic example of an early 20th C. Western Apache bowl with a bold geometric design. The basket is large at 16 3/4″ in diameter and 5 1/2″ deep. As the first photo shows, there a light area near the center of the basket. I asked basket expert, Terry Dewald, to look at it and he said this is just a variation in the color of the dark brown devil’s claw material and not a native repair or restoration. The basket is very dynamic on a wall. I do not find any missing stitches or other problems.
