Shawn Deel Yotse’e or Apache – SOLD

At times Shawn Deel adds more details to his Traditional style carvings than any one else. This one is armed with a tufa-cast pistol, the first he has made. As he told me, the shells on the wrist are from Hawaii. The conchos on the belt are hand cut and stamped. He used Grizzly Chicken feathers on the head to resemble hawk feathers. The small necklace is Mediterranean coral and Kingman turquoise. This Apache katsina is 10″ tall including the wild feathers. Note the hand-painted yellow leather shield with a hand-design that is echoed on the chest. His loin cloth front and back is painted leather, as is his headband. A remarkable piece of katsina art.
