Ray Naha Palhik Mana Painting

Ray Naha is an accomplished katsina carver (see our traditional style category), but he also makes paintings. This work is in acrylic and portrays a Palhik Mana in full regalia. When I was at his home in Polacca recently he told me the subject is his niece, Leigh, who is his brother, Shannon’s daughter. Note the exceptional rendering of the human face and the kopatsoki or tableta. The painting is 16″ by 12″ and is signed in the lower right hand corner.
