Manuel Denet Chavarria Ewtoto or Katsina Father

The simplicity of Ewtoto, said to be the Father of the Katsinam, has always spoken to me. This evocative version is by master carver, Manuel Denver Chavarria. When I requested this from him, I asked for his non-distressed style – for some variety. I like the outcome very much. It has that minimalist power that Ewtoto should have. The carving is 10” tall by 3 1/2” wide. The katsina stands stably on its own but also has a hanging string. It is unsigned, but I bought it from him directly.
