Kwasataqa or “One with a Dress” – 1930s
$1,600.00
Simply carved Kwasayataqa or “One with a Dress” from the 1930s. Consistent with that dating is the katsina’s hands in the bellyache position (“ponotutuyqa”). There is a lot of wear to the paint on this carving, but it still has a strong presence. It is 8 ¾” tall including tufts of feathers. There is a stable crack on the back of the katsina. And there is an old tag that reads “Skirt Man.”
