Jimmie Kewanwytewa Palhikwmana – Signed – SOLD

Beautiful Palhikwmana by master carver Jimmie Kewanwytewa aka Jimmie K. At the urging of the Coltons at the Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA), Jimmie was the first to sign his katsinam. He did so with his initials, J.K. They are found on the bottom of both feet on this carving. My wife and I once went through the entire collection of the 120 of Jimmie’s katsinam at the MNA and we discovered that he only signed about 40% of his work. Carvings with his signature have enhanced value. Jimmie worked at the MNA from the 1930s until his death in 1965. 

This fine example is quite large at 15 3/4″ tall by 9 1/2″. Fine condition with minor wear to the paint. From a collection in Idaho. A real piece of Hopi history.
