Gerry Quotskuyva Nata’aska Sculpture – SOLD
Gerry Quotskuyva is a very gifted katsina artist who works in the Ultra-Realistic style. As with this example he often combines Ultra-Realisim with sculptural forms. This Nata’aska or Black Ogre is made with exquisite detail. Note the unusual lavender shirt, the meticulously rendered shells on the bandoliers, the intimidating saw, the concho belt, and the bells on the left calf. It’s no wonder Gerry has won many prizes for his katsinam over the years; and he has done so with his paintings. This Black Ogre is statuesque at 15 1/2″ tall 6 1/4″ wide. A real carving/ painting masterpiece. Note that it is signed on the bottom as shown in the last photo.
