Emory Pohuma Flute Katsina
$750.00
Emory Pohuma was a well-regarded carver from Sichomovi. He died in 1991. His work is easy to identify due to the very distinctive hands, feet, and bent knees. His work was published in New Mexico magazine and is in the collections of many Southwestern museums.
This carving is the Lenang or Flute katsina. Emory has written on the bottom of the left foot, “Pawamui,” which is one of the ceremonies this katsina appears in.
The katsina is quite large at 16″ tall by 8″ wide. It has a strong presence.
