Darance Chimerica Kwikwilyaqa or Mocker

This is a variant of the Kwikwilyaqa or Mocker or Imitator katsina by master carver, Darance Makwesa Chimerica. This Katsina imitates the movements of other Katsinam or village members at a dance. This becomes quite irritating for those being mocked or imitated. Eventually a clever participant pretends to light the top of his head on fire. The Imitator does the same, resulting in the ignition of the cedar bark on the top of his head (as shown in photo 2). This causes the Kwikwilyaqa to exit the scene post haste. The katsina is 10″ tall with the bark and feather adding 1.5 inches.
