Apache Beaded Bag – Collected 1901-1903 – Specific Provenance

$1,150.00

  • Description

This Apache beaded bag is from 1895-1901. It was collected by Dr. George Newlove at Fort Sill, Oklahoma during his tenure as Army Doctor at Fort Sill which ran from 1901 to 1903. Dr. Newlove served while Geronimo was at Fort Sill, and the famous Apache warrior was known to the Newlove family. He used to come to their backdoor for food distribution.

The bag comes with a professional metal stand that displays it very well. The dimensions are 7″ by 5″. All beads and Its original drawstring are intact. There is a small perforation on the reverse side that looks to be due to wear. This bag comes with several photo reproductions of family members of Dr. Newlove.
