Aaron Fredericks Corn Katsina – SOLD
I’m always excited when I receive new work from Aaron Fredericks because he is such an exceptional artist. He told me he saw this version of the Corn or “Ka-ull” or Qa’okatsina in a mixed dance at Shungopavi several years ago. As with all his work, note the exceptional detail on the 8-strand rain sash, the heishi necklace with shell pendant, the leather armbands, and the elaborate featherwork on the head. What really blew me away is the carved yellow corn kernels peeking out from the corn husks. The katsina is 13″ tall including the feathers and is signed AF with his clan symbols.
