1950s-60s Hahayi’wuuti
$195.00
I’ve had several carvings by this individual, but I don’t know his name. The hands are very distinctive in a pointed, tapering, carefully sanded way. This example is puzzling in that it is Hahay’iwuuti, the Hopi figure said to “represent the ideal characteristics of womanhood,” yet she has a maiden’s butterfly whorl hairdo. Perhaps a Hopi friend can clarify. From the 1950s or 60s. It is 5″ tall, not including the feather.
