1930s Hootsani Katsina
$2,350.00
This vibrantly colored Hootsani is from the 1930s. The fact that his arms are cut out away from the body is a reliable sign that it is later than the 1920s – when the arms and hands were not separated. The carving is 9 3/8” tall and 4 1/8” wide ear to ear. It comes with a heavy metal professional base. This is the nicest early Hootsani I’ve had. It is 90 years old!
As shown in the last photo, there is what looks to be a small wooden arrow head attached to a long string originating from the top of his head. This may have been wrapped with the string and attached to the top of the head originally. I’ve decided to leave as is, until I hear a definitive opinion as to its purpose.
