1920s Apache Beaded Bag

$795.00

  • Description

Apache beaded bag in fine condition. It is beaded on one side. These are commonly referred to as Fort Sill (OK) bags, referring to where they were made. Apaches were confined to Fort Sill as prisoners of war from 1894-1914. They continued to make bags in this style following the end of their confinement. I would date this bag to the 1920s. The dimensions are 8 1/2” by 5 1/2” with the fringe adding 5.” When I acquired this bag, the pink and blue florette at the bottom right was partially missing. I had the missing beads professionally restored. The drawstring was dried out and fragile so I had that professionally restored as well. The bag is now in fine condition.
