Plateau Buck and Doe Bag
$1,250.00
Nicely made Plateau beaded pictorial flat bag circa 1940s. A buck and doe are beaded against a blue field, with flowers below, and a pink and white border. Bag measures 13” long by 11 ¼” wide. Beads are finely flat-stitched with thread. Back is Native-tanned hide with an “X” stitching pattern. Bag has a hide handle of the same leather. Inside is lined with red calico cloth. Condition is excellent with no bead loss and leather is supple. Intentional “imperfection” bead centered between buck’s rack, consistent with the tradition that no beadwork should be deemed “perfect.”
