Dynamic version of Hu or Tungwup, the Whipper Katsina. Two of these assist Crow Mother during the Bean Dance initiation period; They are her sons.
As befits his role, this example is holding yucca whips, with which he strikes the legs of the initiates. This carving is substantial, 12 ¼” tall by 9 ¼” wide. He has a yarn skirt, leather armbands and belt with worn paint, leather fringe on the moccasins, and a beard.
