Prize Winning Larryn M Tsaveyo
$495.00
This dramatic carving by Larryn Masawytewa won the “Director’s Award” at the 2014 Hopi Show at the Museum of Northern Arizona (MNA). It comes with the ribbon signed by long-time MNA Director and katsina expert, Robert Breunig. The award is dated July 4th, 2014.
The carving is 16” tall and 8” wide including the feathers. It’s easy to see why this carving was a prize winner given the attention to detail. Tsaveyo – one the main Ogre katsinam – is holding a long yucca whip in one hand and a large sword in the other. He is wearing a real leather cape and hand-painted leather kilt. One leg has tin tinklers wrapped around the calf and the other, a real shell rattle. This carving has it all, including huge teeth with which to menace naughty children.
